A hike - or how I climbed Mount Sternum with Hannah

(by Marco Polo)

The new day had only just begun when we met at the north gate of the large city of Thais. My brief job as gatekeeper (see also the story of the dragon lord ) was over and I was able to devote myself again to the pleasant part of my life on Tibia.

Thanks to my youthful adventures and generous friends like Helmilein and Algadir, I was able to lead a carefree life. The dew was still glittering in the grass, the farmers happily marched on their fields in front of the city and Hannah came out of the city to meet me.

Each of us had a large picnic basket with us, but it was not revealed what the other had brought with us.

We quickly made our way to the summit of Mount Sternum. We crossed the fields in front of the city, walked a short distance on the shore of Alatar's Lake.

My melancholy thoughts lingered briefly on the memory of this great master of magic, whom I unfortunately only knew briefly.

We entered the mountains. We immediately noticed how merciless the sun was shining. No tree gave more shade, there was no creek left that could provide some cooling.

I was amazed to find that Hannah was quite able to keep up with my pace. Her hard training as a knight had made her lose good physical condition.

She also took my news calmly that I had seen two cyclops in the distance. We buckled on our armor, drew our swords - it was a short fight.

In higher regions we saw a few spider webs that must have come from unusually large spiders. But the builders were not seen.

In the early afternoon the time had come. We reached the top. We stood there sweaty and breathed a little. That prospect! This calm! My thoughts revolved around this illusion of a peaceful Tibias, far from any murderers and other rascals. A growl tore me from my thoughts. It was my stomach that spoke up again. The dry wood we brought with us was kindled quickly and soon we were able to turn the first clubs on the spit. Hannah drank a glass of milk as a precaution, but also emptied the first cup of wine very quickly. A circumstance that made her walk a little too close to the fire. :-))

When it was getting dark, we lit another torch and the first green firefly appeared.

Hannah's songs, by her own admission, were loud rather than beautiful. However, I liked you very much.

The fire was slowly getting smaller and we pulled our blankets tighter around us. After all, we slept soundly, not least because of the good Mintwalliner wine.

The new day began with a brunch made from the leftovers from the previous day. We decided to make our way back early. The first part of the descent went quickly. After all, our luggage was lighter than on the ascent, and the sun wasn't as hot as the day before. At the end of a steep gorge, two cyclops surprised us again. They charged straight at me so that Hannah could get into their back without much trouble. As she correctly stated, the two Cyclops could not have been very old because their fighting technique was very inadequate. So the fight was over quickly and we got to Thais early noon, where our ways parted. However, I didn’t miss the opportunity to give Hannah a little souvenir of our very nice trip to Mount Sternum * wink * ... Marco Polo
